Holiday Gift Drive for KUMFA kids!
In cooperation with TRACK and ASK, KUMFA is once again organizing a Christmas gift drive for the children of Korean unwed mothers. By giving small, personal gifts to single moms’ children, we encourage the movement of child-rearing single mothers to grow in Korea. Of course, we also bring a little holiday cheer! Children will receive their gifts at an end-of-year party on December 15 in Seoul. Therefore, please select your gifts by December 10 in order to ensure that there is enough time to get all the gifts purchased, delivered, and wrapped.
For further instructions on how to sponsor a present for a KUMFA kid, click here for Facebook event page.

Handsome Guy 1 & 2

Or maybe this should be titled ‘why I love high schoolers’. A couple weeks ago the classes changed and I was doing the learning names routine when one of the first years said he wasn’t cute he was handsome- handsome guy. So I laughed and said ok. Later when I was calling for a volunteer HG and his deskmate both raised their hands so I pointed and said ‘ok handsome guy what’s the answer’ HG’s deskmate, as cute as can be, smiled and said ‘me?’ pointing to himself. I laughed when HG1 said in Korean ‘no stupid ME’ and then everyone started laughing. So I said to the deskmate you can go next Handsome Guy 2. Then he really smiled and said Saranghae yo! with a too cute hand-heart. Now whenever i see HG2 he always smiles and gives me the hand heart. The first years are so adorable and sweet (usually) ^^ Haha the second years not so much.Today I made the mistake of giving a team prize to my worst 2nd year class and it was like Sparta and fight to the death over nachos ~ yikes!

Oh how I love thee Gmarket!
In Seoul I can easily find many great random places selling shoes and clothes. Unfortunately it seems like here if your feet are bigger than an American 8.5 you are sol. I barely made the cut off so usually can get away with a 245/250 a few great places to check out in person I’ve found are…. Haha my top most guarded secrets! BUT I’m telling them in the hopes you all will buy all the cute ones and keep me from any more shoe shopping.
Dongdaemun- avoid Doota unless you have feet bigger than 255 or you want to spend extra cash. There is a street kind of dark and narrow near one of the underground shopping exits and by the gate that has a lot of shoe sellers and that is where I bought my rainboots people always compliment me on for around 10,000₩

Jamsil the station has a lot of clothes and shoe sellers but shop around first there because some sellers have better prices than others.

Jonggak station has a lot of shoes, accessories, and clothes sellers- not to mention TWO big bookstores and great restaurants near by and it’s usually not too terribly crowded.

Express Bus Terminal station- like Jamsil but bigger and better.

Hyehwa is great for accessories but I’ve found even though they (and Edae) have really cute shoe shops- they tend to stop around 245- and then just go ugly if they have bigger sizes ㅠㅠ

So those are my top faves for offline shopping- happy hunting!

Healthy, delicious diet food?!? I didn’t think it was possible and probably had I known I wouldn’t have tried this sweet potato and other ‘natural ingredient’ desserts. I’m glad I did as they (especially the sweet potato sweet) were quite good and inexpensive. The shop opened not too long ago in Jonggak (not too far from the new Krispy Kreme) near exit 4. My study buddy also quite enjoyed them.

Hiking! I get why people like hiking. I also get that hiking is not for me. Haha what sucks is after you get to the top and have enjoyed the view and are ready to go home- there is that wtf moment where is the cable car? the elevator? Fugh that rope I almost fell off to get up I now have to try and use to get my butt back down. Haha or at least there is for me. Surfing-ok, snowboarding-ok, other sports OK but hiking just no I think this was truly my last one ^^’ Back in Seoul though there was a quiet and beautiful place with hiking more my style aka steps and easy, flower filled paths. It’s near the research institute at Korea University station. The last picture is of a lovely rooftop cafe I found with delicious yogurt smoothies-might just go get one now :D

Hehe hope you weren’t hungry! These days so many cafes have fruit topped waffles, especially strawberries that it’s like I’m eating one every other day but can’t decide which is the best. (Homestead’s was pretty darn good though but a little expensive at 11,000 won).

These days I feel like I’ve just been food exploring and I have no complaints-so many delicious discoveries! Beef stuffed peppers, pepper fried chicken, spinach curry, golden spiced potatoes, buttery nan, fresh fruits and cream, spicy meat stew so good you have to loosen the top button, and sparkling wines in every fruit imaginable. I am a happy, happy woman.

Seoul at night photo dump. Right now the weather is perfect-especially at night. Cool breezes and few bugs, everybody is out enjoying the weather. I think my fave pic of these is the one with the whole family out enjoying a walk by the lake at Lotte World. I didn’t realize how beautiful it was until I got the chance to see it for myself. I’m just sad I couldn’t capture and share how beautiful the night view is of Lotte World and the castle. All of which are very close to my new fav-kind-of-secret-and-I-would-tell-but-I-already-have-to-wait-30+-minutes restaurant ^^’

Before when my boss called ….
..it was never good news. So when my new boss called early this morning I was nervous- like wtf is he about to say but SWEET JESUS calling to say today I can just take the day off because it’s a special holiday was a very happy, happy surprise. I like the new job but it’s so beautiful outside that I want to be out or by a window.
Sitting in a glass front cafe, listening to Norah Jones, drinking the best black tea latte I’ve come across with good books and a sketchbook = total win Monday! Hope everyone else is having a lovely spring day as well ^^

eunoiair asked: Where do you go to get your nails done? :) I can't see anywhere online. Also, how much would you typically pay for gel nails? Tia ^___^

I’m sorry I don’t think I saw ur MSG here but replied on ur tumblr. I don’t know about gel nails but places like Edae, Hyehwa, and Myeongdong have a lot of places. Maybe Hyehwa or Hongdae would have the best prices? Did u ever get ur nails done at a place u liked? Jei
